Threshing Floor Room
The big room, for families. It looks onto the eira, the donkeys and the sunset.
The largest of the four, at the top of the Casa do Lagar, with timber shutters onto the eira, the old stone threshing floor. This is the family room: four people fit without anyone treading on anyone, and there is a cot for whoever needs one.
The eira is where children always end up. The chickens roam loose in the morning and put themselves to bed at dusk, feeding them and collecting the eggs is the first thing any child wants to do here, and the last thing they tire of.
The donkeys
They are in the paddock alongside. Gentle, greedy and entirely shameless about carrots. We show you how, then leave you to it.

What is in the room
House rules
- Dogs are welcome, on a lead by the chickens and the donkeys, and not on the beds.
- The pool is unattended. Children always with an adult. The pond is not for swimming.
- The workshop is a courtesy, not a licensed garage. Closed shoes. Children only with an adult.
- The last 2.8 km are a dirt track. Go slowly after rain; there are cattle and potholes.
- Check-in 15:00–20:00. Later is fine if you tell us. Check-out by 11:00.
- Fire only where we agree, and never 1 June–30 September, as the law requires.
