Pond Room
Frogs at dusk, herons at dawn, and the window fogged first thing.
On the ground floor of the Casa do Lagar, with its own door straight outside. Open it in the morning and the pond is thirty metres away, usually with mist on it until the sun climbs.
It is the coolest room in summer (water next door genuinely helps) and the loudest at night, if you count the frogs. We count them.
The pond
It is not a swimming pool: it is living water, with reeds, dragonflies and fish. There is a heron that turns up most mornings at much the same hour and that nobody tries to photograph up close any more. For swimming there is the pool, on the other side of the threshing floor.
Anglers bring their own rods. Everyone else sits on the bank, which also works.

What is in the room
House rules
- Dogs are welcome, on a lead by the chickens and the donkeys, and not on the beds.
- The pool is unattended. Children always with an adult. The pond is not for swimming.
- The workshop is a courtesy, not a licensed garage. Closed shoes. Children only with an adult.
- The last 2.8 km are a dirt track. Go slowly after rain; there are cattle and potholes.
- Check-in 15:00–20:00. Later is fine if you tell us. Check-out by 11:00.
- Fire only where we agree, and never 1 June–30 September, as the law requires.
