Retreats, small weddings and team weeks
When you take the whole farm, it closes to everyone but you. 10 sleeping places, sixty at the table on the eira, and fifteen hectares where nobody treads on anybody.
What kind of gathering
Retreats
Yoga, writing, meditation, group therapy. The threshing floor and the olive grove give you space to practise outdoors; the Casa Grande gives you a room under a roof for rain or serious heat. Real silence, the nearest neighbour is a kilometre away.
Small weddings
Up to sixty on the eira, long table and strung lights. We are not a wedding venue and do not want to be: one a month at most, and only the ones that fit here without turning this into something else.
Team weeks
Enough signal to work in the morning and disappear in the afternoon. Two kitchens, a big table, the pool, and the workshop for anyone who needs to use their hands instead of a keyboard.
Birthdays and families
The gathering that happens once every five years. Rooms for everyone, ground for tents if there are more, and nobody knocking on the door at eleven at night.
What is included
- Both houses and all four bedrooms, exclusive use
- Two fitted kitchens, one with a wood oven
- Stone threshing floor with a long table and power
- The pool, May to October
- Parking for six vehicles
- Linen, towels and the final clean
What we arrange, if you ask
- A cook, or local catering
- Extra tables, chairs and crockery
- Tents and additional bathrooms
- Someone to deal with the firewood and the fire
- Transfers to and from Ourique station
The rules, said up front
- Three nights minimum; seven in August.
- Music outdoors until midnight. After that, indoors, sound carries a very long way here.
- We are not licensed for events open to the public. This is for invited groups.
- Fires only where agreed, and never between June and September.
- Pets welcome, on the lead near the chickens.
