How to get here, step by step
- Leave the A2 at Ourique and head into the town.
- In Ourique, follow the signs for Santa Luzia, about 12 km of tarmac.
- Past the village of Santa Luzia, at the next kilometre, there is a dirt track on the right with a blue gate and a sign reading "Portela Nova".
- It is 2.8 km of dirt track. It is well kept and any car manages it, but slowly, because there is livestock and there are potholes after rain.
- The farm gate is at the end of the track. If you get lost, ring: we give better directions by phone than any satnav.
Satnavs sometimes send people the wrong way over the last few kilometres. If your phone says to turn before the blue sign, do not turn.
The map loads from Google, and only when you ask. Loading it gives Google your IP address.
